Over 10 years’ experience in the public and not for profit sector treating a variety of mental health disorders inclusive of Anxiety, Depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, Psychotic Disorders, Trauma with therapies inclusive of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectal Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Talk Therapy. Therapeutic interventions are tailored to the individual and can include multiple therapies with a holistic approach.

Approach

My approach is client-centered, evidence-based and collaborative, with a holistic biopsychosocial view to the person and presenting concern. I am able to prioritize building a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship.

Education

I have completed a Master's in Social Work (Qualifying), I have completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health and completed an Accreditation as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. I am currently enrolled in a Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health Child and Adolescence, and I am registered with Medicare to provide rebates for Mental Health Care Plan referrals completed by GP's or Mental Health Professional Practitioners. I have specific interest in trauma informed care and schema development. Whilst offering a private service, I continue to work in the public Mental Health sector with tertiary mental illness and in the crisis assessment and treating team within the district.

What is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker?

An AMHSW is a university educated professional whom has completed a masters degree, followed by two years of clinical supervision in a mental health specific role and completion of a thorough accreditation process. After completion of this process a Social Worker can be known as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) and is able to register with Medicare for rebates on mental health care plans provided by GP’s. AMHSW may also provide therapy or support through NDIS funding or for private clients. The level of training and expertise enable a wide range of effective therapeutic interventions / mental health services to all clients with diverse mental health issues.

What can they do?

AMHSW’s have a holistic approach to the individual's presenting problem with a biopsychosocial approach. An AMHSW works with clients of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. AMHSW’s are trained to use a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, schema therapy, psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, talk therapy (to name a few) using specific approaches and theoretical frameworks tailored to each individual presentation to assist clients to achieve their goals.
